Papillary Cancer
Papillary thyroid cancer is by far the commonest type of thyroid cancer. It can occur at any age, even in younger patients. Fortunately, as well as being the most common, it is also the most well treated and is curable in the vast majority of patients.
Treatment often involves thyroid surgery removing either half or all of the thyroid gland.
Papillary cancer can spread to lymph glands and occasionally to the lungs.
If there are involved lymph glands then these are also removed, dependent on the position of the lymph glands and surgery may be followed by radio-iodine in some cases.
